[Tunes |The Cardigans - My Favourite Game]

So college has resumed. I'm back in the dorms. Not quite up to my usual slacker ways. Playing video games, actually going to class, not really doing homework, being far more sociable than I usually am, failing when trying to be sociable... You know, the basics. It's all good for now. Trying to stay focused on school so I can disappear for the weekend to Chapel Hill and party my arse off because I'm getting to see Franz Ferdinand in concert! Wewt indeed. Have to get in touch with [info]pre_expansion about this and figure out double you tee eff we're doing. My good friend Alan has invited me up to Boston sometime around Christmas. Should be fun. Provided I can get there, that is. School's going well. Meeting people. Meh. It's cool. I just need a friend that's totally cool with holding onto me or vice versa and I'm not really comfortable with that being a dude, you know? =P Seriously, though. /me needs human contact! It's definitely 6:14 and I haven't gone to bed from last night. Well, I did. I fell asleep around midnight and then woke up around 3. I'm gonna have to stay awake for Anthro, English and Philosophy? Ugh. Philosophy drags on too long, as does English usually. Anthro's OK. Last time I just flat out fell asleep. =\ But I'll be OK. Went to Blockbuster yesterday and rented a shitload of movies.

Foreign
"Le Pacte des Loups" Brotherhood of the Wolf
"Silencio Roto" Broken Silence
"Amores Perros" Love's a Bitch
Non-foreign
"Taking Lives"
"21 Grams"
"Dog Day Afternoon"

Busy week, no? =) Anyway, if people still read this, gimme a call and we'll chill out sometime. If I'm supposed to come visit you this weekend ::ahem:: start cleaning the place up and stock up the Dr. Pepper. =D Catch you guys later.

Long time, no see... [Aug. 17th, 2004|01:06 am]
['Tude | crazy]
[Tunes |Yellowcard - Only One]

OK. So a lot of things have happened and I've just been flat out too lazy to update. The concert I referred to in my last post was The Get Up Kids, Thrice and Dashboard Confessional at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach with Anna, Derek, Robin, Jessica, and some friend of Jessica's. My goodness. If Thrice didn't rock my face off beforehand, they've definitely taken the throne now. I have several people to take to the concert the next time they're remotely near NC. Then things quieted down for a while. Worked my ass off. Made some decent money. Then Will and I went to Vans Warped Tour in Virginia Beach on August 3. Shite. I actually sat down and watched like eight bands. Yellowcard, NOFX, Flogging Molly, Motion City Soundtrack, Matchbook Romance, The International Noise Conspiracy, Lars Frederickson and the Bastards and Story of the Year to the best of my recollection. Story of the Year closed and absolutely rocked. NOFX was awesome. Yellowcard rocked hard. MCS and Matchbook were both awesome. Matchbook Romance did an acoustic set, which was cool. Some guy started bitchin' about it and the bassist went nutso and told him to "fuckin' leave". Since then, I've been working. However, I'm finally done. Registered for school and all that fun stuff. I may start updating more, maybe not. Anywho, this is just a primer for what's been going on. Message me anytime to see what's going on. Oh, yeah. My laptop's kinda fucked so I won't be on as much as I usually am. But definitely keep an eye out.

[Tunes |The Dismemberment Plan - Crush]

Isn't it the shittiest thing in the world when someone you think know has treated you like crap tries to come back into your life? They put on this lovely facade as though things are exactly, no... better than they used to be. And then they let the facade go whenever it's convenient for them. I cannot say, "LAME-O!" enough to keep up. People, I don't care if you'd really like to be friends again, but dammit, don't do it when it's just convenient for you. No, I'm not saying being friends with someone should get in the way of everything else, but don't let everything else get in the way of being a friend. Got it? Whatever.

If you see something in my eyes,
oh, don't overanalyze...
Don't make too much of this, baby.
So let it be.
Why don't we
not make a fuss and get
crazy over you and me?

I am so sick of having to be "responsible". I am tired of not being able to be who I am because the "adult world" won't tolerate it. I'm so not ready to be a "grown-up". I wanna chill out and play video games all day. Rock out my music. Watch movies that don't require brain cells. Not have to worry about a job. Not have to worry about school. Why does everyone insist that getting older means getting boring? I don't want it to. I want to have fun. Forget the "real world".

Shelf in the room... [May. 27th, 2004|05:22 pm]
['Tude | exhausted]
[Tunes |Muse - Time is Running Out]

Sorry it's been so long since I updated. Work has been absolute hell. I'm totally exhausted. I now work at Jack Farrior steelworks. Simply put, steelworks is not for me. If I never had any inspiration to do well in school, I certainly do now. I've seriously considered going to the second summer session at ECU to get out of this job. ::sighs:: My arms and legs feel like they're about to fall off. I had to drive to Fayetteville today. No fun when it's by yourself. 96 Rock was there to comfort me, though. =) There's this awesome dog that hangs around the steel shop, too. No collar or anything, so I'm kind of tempted to coax it into coming home with me. But I haven't yet. Some of the guys are cool, but there's something about being bombarded by hot steel and blaring country music all day that's a little unsettling. Anyway, more to update later. Au revoir.

As dead as you or I... [May. 19th, 2004|05:31 pm]
['Tude | exhausted]
[Tunes |Thrice - The Artist in the Ambulance]

So, I'd like to die. Right now. Work sucks. 10 hours a day starting at fucking 6 a.m. And whoever came up with sandblasting should be shot on sight, preferably by me. I had sand crammed into crevices I never even knew existed. So this morning I decided I wasn't going to work. Mom said I needed to get up, I said whatever. Dad said I needed to get up, so basically told him to fob off. To make a long story short, about the only reason I went to work today was because I think I can buy a crazy gaming computer with my pay from the summer. ::sighs:: Anyway, I'm supposedly grounded because I told my parents to fob off. What do they care? I'm 19. Jesu Christo. So... I'm really bored. And I have no clue where I was going with this post. But this wasn't it. Well, sure it was. Whatever. My job sucks. That's what I was aiming for. Although today, I did drive for 6 hours. (Trust me, a mondo improvement from what I've been doing.) So, I'm gonna go to sleep or something. Party on.
Not for the school-shooting sensitive or video-game disinclined... )

['Tude | sleepy]
[Tunes |Bush - Swallowed]

So "Troy" was surprisingly good. I was more surprised that everyone got together and actually went. (All 4 of us.) The movie stays rather true to the Iliad (those who've read it). The gods don't play as big a role in the movie as the did in the epic. Visually, the movie is awesome. It's a period film, so don't expect anything out of the ordinary. It's the sense of scale that makes this movie work. One of the hottest shots in all the movie was when the Greek army is moving on Troy in the dead of night. All the soldiers are simply visible as shadows or silhouettes and it's one of the most awesome things I've ever seen. The story's good. About the only thing you get tired of is seeing Brad Pitt sans clothes. Chicks may not get tired of this, though. For the dudes, however, there is Diane Kruger, who plays Helen. Let me tell you, Wolfgang Petersen did a fine job of finding a chick that guys would readily go to war for. Oh, and should any of you have a spare wheelchair lying around, they let 2 people in for free if one's in a wheelchair. I dunno why, but that's the way it works. I saw the preview for my flick, "The Day After Tomorrow" and am still really stoked over it. Pure eye candy. Saw the typical string of superhero movies set to come out. This time it was "Constantine" and "Catwoman", I think. ::yawns:: I swear, Hollywood will never break the mold unless forced to.

"Hey. Could we do that again? I know we haven't met, but I don't want to be an ant. You know? I mean, it's like we go through life with our antennas bouncing off one another, continously on ant autopilot, with nothing really human required of us. Stop. Go. Walk here. Drive there. All action basically for survival. All communication simply to keep this ant colony buzzing along in an efficient, polite manner. "Here's your change." "Paper or plastic?' "Credit or debit?" "You want ketchup with that?" I don't want a straw. I want real human moments. I want to see you. I want you to see me. I don't want to give that up. I don't want to be ant, you know?"

[Tunes |Further Seems Forever - The Sound]

Another weekly episode of "Friday Five", though it appears no one reads this thing in general anymore, much less for my opinion on "good" music.

1. Blind Luck Music - The Sixth Degree of Change

2. Nada Surf - Inside of Love

3. Further Seems Forever - Wearing Thin

4. Normal Like You - Can I Live

5. Number One Fan - Come On

So, me and some friends are supposed to go see "Troy" tonight, but I'm not sure how that'll work out. =\ Anyone still reading this, comment so I'll know to keep writing.

Always a statement, never a question... [May. 13th, 2004|06:59 pm]
['Tude | indifferent]
[Tunes |Lazlo Bane - Superman]

"Spirited Away" works now. Happy day! Anyway, the router has died and I can't really sit in my room anymore because I don't have the internet in there. This really sucks because a group I play an online game with is finally starting to get in gear and I don't know how things are gonna work without me being able to access the internet readily. Fuck, I should have gone to summer session. I got a job a Jack A. Farrior Steelworks. The guy I talked to today scared me shitless with his safety speech. Metal so hot it doesn't scare you, but sticks to your skin... ::sighs:: Maybe this isn't the best idea in the world. And I really don't wanna know what kind of hours I'm working. I gotta be there at 6 in the freakin' morning. I think I'll kill myself shortly. And neither of my parents have the understanding that I'm looking for a job. Best Buy and The Loop both are waiting to see if some of their people will stick around past the first summer session and are then getting back to me, but that's not good enough for them. Fuck. Oh, well. Life is shit, get to know this, my child. Whatever. Enough of this rant, I'm going to go play my mind-rotting video games for a while. Carry on.

I was too stupid to stop... [May. 8th, 2004|02:27 am]
[Tunes |311 - Love Song]

Just got back from Greenville. Went to check out the premiere of the Hurley video, "Nowhere." It was all NC skateboarding. Mostly Greenville. Some Outer Banks and stuff. I didn't realize they were so many good locals. It wasn't bad. The speakers were all way too loud the whole time. It was annoying, but you slowly adjusted. Anyway, played some Mario Golf afterwards. That game is like a drug. Fiendishly addictive. Sorry I didn't update recently. A lot of shite going on with trying to move back home. ::sighs:: I miss the dorm already. Mostly the internet connection, but there are other things. Such is life. Anyway, I'll do a late edition of the Friday Five... No theme this week, I believe.

1. Dexter Freebish - Prozak
The latest single off their new album. If you guys don't remember their previous effort, check out "Leaving Town" as well.

2. Fuel - Falls on Me
New single off another new album. Examine "Shimmer" for a previous effort.

3. Live - Run Away
See above two for pattern. Previous songs, "The Dolphin's Cry" and "I Alone."

4. Incubus - Talk Shows on Mute
Previously heard on "Drive" and "Warning."

5. Hoobastank - The Reason
"Running Away" and "Crawling in the Dark."

Happy biiirthday, TO ME. Happy biiirthday, TO ME. =) So, today is OFFICIALLY my birthday. But we celebrated last night (all 5 hours ago.) Anyway, I got some cool stuff. Money, of course. Resident Evil 2 is on the way. Some shorts... "Rockstar" sunglasses. Heh heh. Got some Converses. And a ::whispers:: non-Converse pair of shoes. "WHAT!? BLASPHEMY!" New Balances. Quite cool, if you ask me. Anyway, the coolest thing was my sister bought me tickets to see Thrice and Dashboard Confessional in Myrtle Beach. DAMN SKIPPY! Should be a damn good time. Anyway, I think I'm gonna try to catch some sleep before my exam tomorrow. More later. =)

[Tunes |Kronos Quartet - Lux Aeterna]

Today sucks. I'm feeling like shit and no one feels the need to talk to me. Quite all right. I'll make do. And everyone wonders why I play my video games so much. So... My birthday's next Monday. Not to mention I have an Algebra exam next Monday. Mom asked what I want forever ago and I finally compiled a list for her. It mostly consists of various pairs of Converses, an iPod, some GameCube games and that's about it. Should any of you be interested in that list, feel free to contact me! ;) Tomorrow's my Physics exam. That'll suck the big one. School's almost over. Jesu Christo. I think I'm gonna head to the high school play to see a friend of mine in it this weekend. I was in one. =X "Little Shop of Horrors" I played Mushnik, the store owner. I had to tango with the main guy. It was really weird, but everyone (who wasn't tangoing with the dude) seemed to enjoy it. Forgot my lines a few times. =\ Just a few more examples of ways Josh fucked up. Greatness.

[Tunes |Sugarcult - Memory]

Besides the weekly lament that tomorrow's Monday, things are going well. Just bored, I think. Beyond that, I'm pretty good. If I had something to do, for sure things would be better. But they're not. So I'll deal. Bought two new CDs at Best Buy today. Sugarcult's "Palm Trees and Power Lines" and Story of the Year's "Page Avenue". I think I'm gonna go distract myself some more, so I'll talk more later. =)

Another lame-o Friday five... [Apr. 23rd, 2004|02:25 pm]
['Tude | complacent]
[Tunes |The Cardigans - Lovefool]

This week we'll do a middle school version of me Friday five...

1. Deep Blue Something - Breakfast at Tiffany's
And I said what about... "Breakfast at Tiffany's"? She said, "I think... I remember the film." =)

2. Counting Crows - Long December
Simple, but it works.

3. Semisonic - Closing Time
Anyone remember the video to this? The split screen of the people looking for each other and they change sides a couple of times because they get so close? It was a good one.

4. Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner
Something about this woman's voice is absolutely entrancing.

5. The Cardigans - Lovefool
My guilty pleasure.
